Huge hiatus - yikes!

 Hello All!

I am back to my blog in the hopes to remember to submit my reviews here as well.  I have been off the reading circuit for a while as I went back to school to obtain my Bachelor's and a subsequent certificate in school nursing.  It has been a lot so whereas I tried to read most of what I read about was special education and nursing implications.  Not something most people want to listen to me drone on about.

But in the time frame, I have read a few books of note and thought I would share them with you as I catch up on my blog.  

This was a booktok suggestion and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Not a smutty book - but I a super cute book whose author actually lives at the Tower of London.  A 4 out of 5 for me

I swear to the Goddesses - there is not an Abbi Glines I do not enjoy.  And her new series is definitely becoming a hot and bother read for me.

  

I anxiously await the next installment of this series as the MCs are just getting hotter and hotter and I cannot wait for the next one.  It is not my Auntie-snuck-me-a-dime-store-romance novel!  It is hot and spicy and makes my husband happy I found Abbi Glines as to what it does to my libido.  HAHA

Here is another Booktok suggestion that I quickly read the series of.  I enjoyed them - yes they are spicy.  But overall, towards the end, I was over the characters.  Definitely recommend number one!

I will save the Colleen Hoovers as that is a blog entry all on its own.  I will say that I am currently reading Elle Kennedy's Good Girl Complex and I am thoroughly enjoying it.  More to come on that too.

 Ugh, don't you just hate it when you settle onto the lounge chair in the blistering heat and hope you get some blistering heat in a place perhaps nice company does not mention?  

I was hoping for just that when I started this book.  Such high hopes from my Tik Tok look and my reading of the book on Kindle Unlimited.  And then, oh my, it just hits me.

 

THIS BOOK IS BORING!

No HEAT!

Too CLICHE!!

Even the spice was not at a level that I inferred from the description.  I mean a threesome or possibly a foursome?!?!  HOT and SPICY.  Just the way this momma likes it.  But I was disappointed.

The characters I could have never met and been perfectly fine.  I am only obsessing over this one because I was irritated by how cliché it all was.

Seriously - I wanted chemistry and intrigue.  I got nothing.  I wanted to have the climax of the storyline last more than a couple pages.  But it seemed to be acknowledged and then all was well.  Not realistic - just cheesy!

I am so so sad.  I must find me a new book to read to forget this one even exists.

The characters are so not what I expected!

The twists and turns are amazing!

I highly recommend this one - I gave it 5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads.

    This is a modern retelling of Persephone and Hades.  Now my 14 year old daughter is super into mythology.  So she saw me reading this and wanted to read it after me.  Ummm, yikes!  Noooo!

So, Katee Robert now has my full and complete attention!  I have pre-ordered her next book and have decided to pick up her other books as well to keep reading.  But who am I kidding, I am totally gonna re-read this one.  

I did order it and then, while waiting for my copy to arrive, I downloaded it on my reader from my library.  Now, the copy was to arrive next day mind you, and when it did, I was already on like Chapter 21!!!!!  I was hooked I tell you!!!

The chemistry between the characters was so hot and those personal relationships kept me going.  And I am not only talking about between Persephone and Hades.  All of them!  There is so much backstory and intrigue that I am excited to see what else Katee writes about.

So, if you like the spice and you love retellings and want something amazing to read, pick up NEON GODS by Katee Robert!  You will not regret it.

Hello cyberworld - AGAIN!

What is this, my 3rd or 4th blog?  I grow tired of my other blogging topics and so I am trying to write about something more this time.  I tried the whole, I am a Mom of 5 who reads route and well, I could not decide between Mommy advice, reading advice, or whatever pops into my head.

And let me tell you, my head is full of a lot of CRAP!  I am trying to be a college student to earn a bigger degree (to make more money), a mom who still has very active kiddos at home, a wife who does not totally revolt my husband, a nurse who does not work all the time, and a SPICY BOOK reader.  Add to that the rest of everyday life, a pandemic, and well, yeah, everything.  That brain gets a little crowded, am I right?

I truthfully, have decided that my time when I am not doing, well, everything else, needs to be spent having fun, doing something I love.  And my hobbies go back and forth between things trendy and things old lady like (crocheting!), so I always come back to reading.  And when I say reading, I wish I could lie and say that the reading I like to do is that including epic classic novels or amazing memoirs/biographies.  

Nope - this brain likes the SPICE!!!!  Yep, just know that I like to read what many would call p*rn, or smut, or spice.  It doesn't need to be one every page or chapter and it defintiely needs to have substance.  I love those charaacters that make you think long and hard about them after you read their stories.  Or the ones that stick in your mind, making you come up with a continuation in their stories.

But alas, I am not really a writer, I am more of a book whore who loves to collect stories and then share them with people who would like to hear about them.  I cannot share these with most of my, well, more conservative, religious family.  And since, I do not prescribe to any of that, I tend to need to find people I can share it with.

Hence my obsession with the book side of Tik Tok or even better, the SPICY side of the book side of Tik Tok.  And so here we are, my first blog posting complete and I am going to write about the ones that I have read recently.  

I invite you to join me in my late forties rant on spicy books found by others, suggested to me in varying ways, and would love to hear from you if you too share this secret or not so secret obsession.
